“I am happy and relieved that I have reached the final again. It has been a tough job overall in the last few days. I’m just glad it’s going so well this week,” the Swiss Maestro said after reaching his 13th championship match in Westphalia.
Earlier in the day, Goffin snapped Matteo Berrettini’s eight-match winning streak, beating the Italian 7-6(4), 6-3. The 28-year-old Belgian won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 37 minutes.

“It was a great feeling on this court, an amazing atmosphere and a top-level match from my side. We didn’t give anything in our service games,” Goffin said. “I had to be really focussed on every shot because you never know, sometimes you can make an easy mistake and then he had chances… so it was tough.”
The former World No. 7 will appear in his first title match since the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals. Goffin is seeking his fifth ATP Tour career crown. Federer could clinch his 102nd trophy. The 37-year-old Basel native leads their head-to-head record 7-1.
