Local favourite Norbert Gombos captured the title of the €69,280 Bratislava Open held on clay at the TK Slovan Bratislava. The No. 8 seed from Slovakia fought past Attila Balazs of Hungary in Sunday’s singles final, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Gombos capitalized on five of his 14 break point opportunities to secure victory in two hours and nine minutes. It was the second triumph of the 28-year-old in Slovakia’s capital city. Gombos won the title on indoor hard back in 2016.
By lifting his sixth career trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour, he collected €9,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP-Ranking points.
Six titles later, that winning feeling never gets old.
