The line-up for the semi-finals at the Guzzini Challenger, held on hard courts at the ASD Circolo Tennis Francesco Guzzini in Recanati, is set. Sixth favourite Lukas Lacko remains the highest-seeded player left in the singles draw.
The World No. 207 from Slovakia defeated Viktor Galovic of Croatia 7-5, 6-3 on Friday evening. Lacko struck 13 aces, winning 94 per cent of his first service points to advance in one hour and 17 minutes.
The 31-year-old from Slovakia will next take on Egor Gerasimov. The No. 10 seed from Belarus edged past Frenchman Denny de Schepper, winning 6-4, 6-3 in 68 minutes.
Roberto Marcora is the last Italian player standing in the singles draw. The World No. 215 battled past #NextGenATP Austrian Jurij Rudionov 7-5, 6-7(5), 7-6(6). Marcora capitalized on three of his four break point chances to prevail after two hours and 26 minutes. Up next for the local favourite will be Mats Moraing. The No. 15 seed from Germany beat Ramkumar Ramanathan of India 6-4, 6-1. The encounter lasted 56 minutes.
