AO Press Release, August 8, 2019
British superstar Billy Idol will be part of the lineup for the AO Live Stage at Australian Open 2020.
The Australian Open and Mushroom Events announced today that Idol will join Melbourne rock act The Delta Riggs on the AO Live Stage on Wednesday 29 January.
His performance at the Australian Open will be part of a national tour presented by Frontier Touring.
With eight US top 20 hits including White Wedding, Dancing with Myself, Rebel Yell, Flesh for Fantasy and Eyes Without a Face, Idol is one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic performers.
“I’m sure there are a lot of AO fans out there who are as excited as I am to see Billy Idol perform some of his biggest hits, like Rebel Yell and White Wedding, at Australian Open 2020,” Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley said.
“Music has becoming such an important part of the AO experience and Billy Idol is just the first of many top acts to be announced – the AO Live Stage lineup will be our biggest ever next January.”
The full AO Live Stage lineup will be revealed in coming months.
At this year’s tournament international acts such as Bastille, Craig David and local favourites Flight Facilities and Angus & Julia Stone were just some of the acts who made for a memorable 15 days of music at the Australian Open.
A stunning purpose built shade structure was a spectacular addition to the AO Live stage this year and will be back for 2020, again improving the comfort and experience for both the bands and the fans.
Entry to the AO Live Stage is by ground pass, with tickets set to go on sale in October.
