Carlos Taberner is the only unseeded player to reach the semi-finals of the Tennis Open Stadtwerke Meerbusch. The 22-year-old Spaniard, who struggled with injuries in recent times and dropped to World No. 333 in the ATP Rankings, cruised past Tak Khunn Wang of France, winning 6-1, 6-0 on Friday afternoon.

Taberner didn’t face a break point, converting five of his own eight break point chances to advance in only 47 minutes. In his third semi-final of the season, the Valencia native will challenge top seed Pedro Sousa. The 31-year-old fought past Jelle Sels from the Netherlands 6-2, 6-7(1), 6-3 to secure victory after one hour and 55 minutes.

Pedja Krstin also remained untroubled in his match against Roberto Ortega-Olmedo of Spain. The No. 3 seed from Serbia won 6-0, 6-2 in only 55 minutes. Up next for Krstin will be Jan Choinski. The 23-year-old representing Great Britain won the tie-break of the final set against Aslan Karatsev of Russia by the score of 7-6. This was the final part of his third-round match, which was suspended due to darkness last night. Later in the day, No. 7 seed Choinski defeated German wild card entry Louis Wessels 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 14 minutes.
