CHENGDU, September 24, 2019 (Press Release)
Bulgarian former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov and Serbian world No. 29 Dusan Lajovic took time off the courts to embark on a charming cruise upon the Jinjiang River that flows through the Chengdu city centre.
The Jinjiang River is a landmark river in the Sichuan province with a history that stretches back to the Tang Dynasty and has been visited and written about by Italian explorer Marco Polo.
The unique night cruise ferries passengers on old-style wooden boats and offers them a glimpse of iconic sights in the city, including the 339 TV Tower, the Lan Kwai Fong nightlife district and Hejiang Pavilion.
The sides of the river sparkle with colourful lights in the night time, while high-tech projectors periodically project vibrant scenes depicting the cultural history of the river upon the stone banks walls and also upon adjacent building facades.
“Exploring all this is marvelous I would say. I didn’t expect that at all. Especially when we stopped to take a picture at the bridge, then all of a sudden these animations came out on the walls. It’s pretty intriguing too. We travel a lot and often to the same places every year so it’s nice to get a different feel for the cities that we go to and explore more and more. It will be nice to come back with friends and family,” said Dimitrov.
“I didn’t expect it to be this nice actually. It’s really calm and it feels completely different that the whole buzz of the city where we are. So it’s good to see this side of the city as well and learn something and explore. Right now Chengdu feels pretty special,” said Lajovic.
