Mikael Ymer is the champion of the Open d’Orleans. The No. 8 seed, who entered the ATP Challenger 125 hard-court event with a wild card, defeated Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 6-3, 7-5 in Sunday’s singles final.
Ymer saved all three break points he faced and converted two of his own five break point chances to prevail after one hour and 18 minutes.

By lifting his third ATP Challenger career trophy, the from Sweden collected in France €18,200 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points. Ymer has become the newest member of the Top 100 on Monday being ranked at World No. 83.
“I’m still on a high,” said Ymer, quoted on the ATP Challenger website. “I need to shower and rest before it all settles in. This is crazy. It’s definitely the best week of my life. I will always remember Orleans. I took a wild card last minute and I’m very, very happy to have the trophy.
“I love the French crowd. Everywhere I go – Roland Garros, Cassis, Bordeaux, here, they all support me. They make me feel like I’m from France, so I’m very grateful.”
Earlier in the day, Romain Arneodo and Hugo Nys of Monaco were crowned doubles champions. The No. 2 seeds defeated the tournament’s No. 4 duo Hans Podlipnik-Castillo of Chile and Tristan-Samuel Weissborn from Austria 6-7(5), 6-3, 10-1. The encounter lasted one hour and 34 minutes.
