Ugo Humbert is the champion of the 2019 Open Brest Credit Agricole. The top seed of the €92,040 ATP Challenger event defeated No. 8 seeded Russian Evgeny Donskoy 6-2, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final at Brest Arena.
Humbert, who only dropped one set en route to the championship match, struck seven aces and saved the only break point he faced. The 21-year-old Frenchman broke his opponent’s serve three times to secure victory in 61 minutes.

“I am very happy with my victory here in Brest. I came here on short notice to earn some points and I am pleased that it worked out,” said Humbert, who played his first main draw match at ATP Challenger level here in Brest two years ago.
“A lot of people came out to watch the matches. It gave me a lot of energy. The spectators were really behind me, I felt it in the important moments. It is one of the best Challengers in the world. The atmosphere is incredible. Today I was good, I knew that I had to play a good level of tennis against a very good player. I’m really happy with my final.”
By lifting his sixth trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour, his third of the season following his triumphs on home soil in Cherbourg and Istanbul, Turkey, Humbert took away from Brittany €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
The new World No. 56 has been awarded a wild card to enter the Rolex Paris Masters this week. Humbert will take on Grigor Dimitrov in the opening round. One week later, the Metz native will finish his season at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan.
Earlier in the day, Denys Molchanov from the Ukraine and Andrei Vasilevski of Belaurs captured the doubles crowns. The No. 3 seeds defeated Italian Andrea Vavassori and David Vega Hernandez of Spain 6-3, 6-1 in only 48 minutes.
