DAVIS CUP Press Release, October 30, 2019

The Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals welcomes an A-list lineup of internationally renowned singers and musicians to perform at its opening and closing ceremonies on November 18 and November 24, respectively, at the iconic Caja Mágica in Madrid.

Global icon and eleven-time Latin GRAMMY® Award- and three-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Shakira will take the stage to headline the closing ceremony just before the Grand Finale on the competition’s last date of November 24, with what is sure to be an unforgettable performance.

Other confirmed performers include award-winning Norwegian-British DJ Alan Walker, Colombian singer and songwriter Camilo, and Puerto Rican superstars Farruko and Pedro Capó.

Bringing the proceedings full circle, Shakira will also feature Camilo and Capó during her show-stopping set. Fellow Colombian and Latin GRAMMY® nominee, Camilo hails from Medellín and made worldwide waves with his single “No Te Vayas.” Meanwhile, Latin GRAMMY® and ASCAP winner, Pedro Capó exploded last year with the smash “Calma (Remix)” joined by none other than Latin GRAMMY® winner and urban idol Farruko.

Kicking off the festivities, Walker performs at the opening ceremony scheduled for 14:30 on Monday November 18 just before the first games (Croatia vs Russia, Italy vs Canada, Belgium vs Colombia). Farruko will turn up during the performance for their collaboration “On My Way” in addition to Walker’s remix of “Calma.”

Meanwhile, Spanish pop rockers and Latin GRAMMY® nominee Taburete plays on November 18 following the opening match (Croatia vs Russia) on the central court. The group, originally from Madrid, is accompanied by the official Davis Cup sponsor Brabante Cervezas as they run through songs from their debut.
