Claudia Giovine of Italy has clinched her first title of the season by lifting the trophy of the RAIFFEISEN ITF VAL GARDENA/SÜDTIROL. The top seed of the ITF World Tennis Tour W15 event rallied past Anja Wildgruber from Germany, winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in Saturday’s singles final at the Tennis Club Ortisei.
Giovine beat Silvia Saccani and Verena Hofer of Itala as well as Bojana Klincov from Switzerland and German Sina Herrmann en route to the title match without dropping a set. The 29-year-old fired 12 aces in the championship match and won 77 per cent of her first-service points to secure victory in one hour and 37 minutes.
By lifting her 12th ITF Pro Circuit trophy, Giovine collected in South Tyrol $2,160 in prize money as well as 10 WTA Ranking points.
Professional tennis will return to Ortisei in two weeks with the 10th edition of the Val Gardena ATP Challenger.
