Federico Delbonis and Jaume Munar will compete in the singles final of the Uruguay Open hosted at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in Montevideo. Delbonis emerged victorious from the all-Argentine affair against wild card entry Juan Manuel Cerundolo, winning 6-2, 7-6(4) on Saturday.
The No. 3 seed of the $54,160 ATP Challenger clay-court event capitalized on four of his eight break point chances to secure victory in one hour and 41 minutes.
Later in the evening, Munar came back from a set down to overcome recent Guayaquil Challenger champion Thiago Seyboth Wild of Brazil. The fifth seed from Spain won 52 per cent of the total points played to prevail 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-0 in just under two hours of play.
Delbonis and Munar will meet for the third time with their head-to-head record tied at 1-1. All of their previous matches took place earlier this season. Delbonis is seeking his 12th ATP Challenger career title, his second in 2019 following his triumph in Perugia, Italy. Munar could lift his fourth trophy, his first of the year.
Sunday’s action will start with the doubles final when Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos of Brazil will take on the all-Argentine combination of Facundo Bagnis and Andres Molteni.
