France, Serbia Handed Wild Cards For Davis Cup Madrid Finals 2020

The International Tennis Federation and Kosmos Tennis have announced that the Davis Cup Steering Committee has selected France and Serbia to receive wild cards for the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals in 2020.

France and Serbia will join the four semi-finalists from the 2019 competition – Canada, Great Britain, Russia and Spain – and the 12 winners of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers 2020 to be held on 6-7 March.

The 2020 Qualifiers Draw takes place on Sunday 24 November at 12:00 CET (11:00 GMT) at the Caja Magica in Madrid and will be streamed live on the Davis Cup website.

The Davis Cup Steering Committee is comprised of ITF President David Haggerty, Kosmos Founder and President Gerard Piqué, Kosmos Tennis CEO Javier Alonso and former Davis Cup Champion and Davis Cup Committee member Mark Woodforde. Their decision was informed by the Davis Cup Committee and the ITF Board of Directors.

The teams that will compete in the 2020 Davis Cup Qualifiers are the 5th to 18th placed teams from this year’s Davis Cup Finals and the twelve 2019 Group I winners. The 12 seeded nations for the 2020 Qualifiers, based on the latest Davis Cup Nations Ranking, are:

The 12 unseeded nations for the 2020 Qualifiers are:

Winner of Pakistan v India (to be played 29-30 November 2019)

The 12 winning nations in the Qualifiers will compete in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals 2020, while the 12 losing nations will compete in World Group I ties in September 2020.
