Taylor Fritz, who captured his first ATP World Tour title this year, has commited to play in the 2019 Hawaii Open Tennis Tournament, presented by Ward Village and Hawaii Tourism. He joins U.S. Open semi-finalist Kei Nishikori, five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova, three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber and more.
Fritz, 22, has had a successful 2019 season, reaching a career-high ranking of ATP World Tour No. 25 in August. He became the youngest American to reach this ranking since Andy Roddick in 2001 and captured his first title at Eastbourne defeating fellow American Sam Querrey. Fritz turned pro in 2015 and represented the U.S. in the 2019 Davis Cup.
“I’m excited to play in the Hawaii Open and gear up for the 2020 season by competing against some of the best players in the world,” Fritz said. “The islands of Hawaii are beautiful and my family and I visit almost every year. I’m looking forward to exploring everything Oahu has to offer.”
