Aldin Setkic captured the title of the last US-$ 10,000 ITF Future tournament of the season in Germany, taking place in Ismaning.
The top-seed from Bosnia-Herzegovina defeated Johannes Haerteis in Sunday’s final, winning 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. Setkic withstood 15 aces from the German, who appeared his very first ITF final, winning 76% of his first service points and converted three of his six break point chances to seal victory after three hours and six minutes.
Setkic clinched his 19th career title on the ITF Pro Circuit, his second of the season. The world number 272 from Sarajevo takes away US-$ 1,440 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. Setkic and Haerteis will stay in Bavaria to play the € 35,000 ATP Challenger in Eckental, with the main draw starting on Monday.
Tournament director Heiko Hampl was satisfied with the inaugural edition of the Ismaning Open. “With the support from the Bavarian Tennis Federation as well as all the sponsors, we were able to execute this combined event at the beautiful venue of the TC Ismaning. More than 1,000 specatators attended an action packed week of great tennis and we are looking forward to a second edition next year,” he told.
Laura Andrei took the title at the women’s tournament. The only 16-year-old German defeated second seed Adrijana Lekaj, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
