Berlocq Retires From Professional Tennis

Carlos Berlocq

STARNBERG, December 23, 2019

Former top 40 Carlos Berlocq has put an end to his career as a professional tennis player. The 36-year-old from Argentina said goodbye after reaching the semi-finals of the Interclub tournament in Buenos Aires.

The native of Chascomús started playing tennis at the age of four and clinched 19 ATP Challenger career titles. Berlocq struggled to adapt his level from the ITF Pro Circuit and Challengers to ATP Tour level events and achieved only limited success on the main tour but lifted two trophies in Bastad, Sweden in 2013 and one year later in Oeiras, Portugal. Berlocq was part of Argentina’s winning Davis Cup squad in 2016. He reached a career-high ranking at World No. 37 in March 2012.

Berlocq has just said goodbye to tennis as a player, but has already taken his next step. He has been announced as Agustín Velotti’s new coach. The 27-year-old Argentine is ranked World No. 382.
