Staged on the eve of the Australian Open, the inaugural Adelaide International will feature four Top 30 players in the FedEx ATP Rankings. Alex de Minaur was the top seed at the first event to be held under the brand-new Memorial Drive Tennis Centre roof, but the Australian No. 1 withdrew from the tournament after competing for his country at the ATP Cup.
Lucky loser Jaume Munar of Spain has taken his place in the draw and will be joined in South Australia by #NextGenATP Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and Doha champion Andrey Rublev. Auger-Aliassime is aiming to lift his maiden ATP Tour title in Adelaide, following three runner-up finishes during a breakthrough 2019 season. Rublev will be keen to add to his trophy collection after an impressive start to the year in Doha.
Top 40 stars Taylor Fritz, Cristian Garin, Jan-Lennard Struff and Reilly Opelka round out the top eight seeds.
ATP Tour returns to New Zealand
An intriguing draw at the ASB Classic features five players in the Top 30 of the FedEx ATP Rankings. Seven of the eight seeds arrive in Auckland after representing their respective countries in the inaugural ATP Cup.
Fabio Fognini, Denis Shapovalov and Karen Khachanov are the top three seeds. Fourth seed John Isner, a two-time Auckland champion (2010, 2014), looks for his first win of the season. Jannik Sinner, named 2019 Newcomer of the Year, makes his first tour-level appearance since winning the Next Gen ATP Finals.
Last year’s champion and runner-up, Tennys Sandgren and Cameron Norrie, also headline the field.
