Leander Paes, who will retire in 2020, will play his final Indian ATP Tour event this week at the Tata Open Maharashtra in Pune. The 46-year-old Indian legend received a wild card into the doubles draw, and he will compete with Australian Matthew Ebden.
Leading the singles field is Frenchman Benoit Paire, who made the semi-finals in Pune two years ago. Other players to watch for include second seed Ricardas Berankis, third seed Stefano Travaglia and 40-year-old Ivo Karlovic, who reached the final here last year.
Japan’s Taro Daniel, who will play Indian wild card Sasikumar Mukund in the first round, is fresh off winning an ATP Challenger Tour title in Burnie, Australia.

European indoor swing to start in Montpellier
Richard Gasquet will try to extend his record number of titles in Montpellier to four this week at the Open Sud de France. The former World No. 7 has triumphed in front of his home fans in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Leading the field is another Frenchman in Gael Monfils. The top seed has lifted the trophy here in 2010 and 2014. He is joined by second seed David Goffin and 2017 Nitto ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov.
#NextGenATP Canadian stars Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime are also in the draw, seeded third and fifth, respectively. The good friends will also play doubles together in Montpellier.
Clay-court season kicks off in Argentina
Home favourite Diego Schwartzman leads the way at the Cordoba Open, where he will try to win his first ATP Tour title in Argentina. The three-time tour-level titlist is one of 10 Argentines competing in the singles main draw on the red clay.
Two of those Argentines, defending champion Juan Ignacio Londero and Guido Pella, played one another in last year’s final. Pella led that match by a set and a break, and he will hope to go one step further this season as the second seed.
Third seed Cristian Garin, who lifted his first two ATP Tour trophies last season, received one of the tournament’s three wild cards, with the other two going to Argentines Pedro Cachin and Francisco Cerundolo.
