ORTISEI, November 9, 2015
The first three main draw matches took place on Monday at the € 64,000 Sparkassen ATP Challenger in Ortisei.
Fourth seed Dustin Brown headlined the action, taking on an in-form Bosnian Aldin Setkic, who captured the ITF Future title in Ismaning two weeks ago. The 30-year-old German, who reached the stage of the final four last year, fired 17 aces and won 82% of his first service points but it wasn’t enough in the end. Setkic rallied back from 0-2 down in the final set, clinching a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 victory in one hour and 52 mintues.
Another Bosnian was also successful in the opening round. Seventh seed Mirza Basic defeated Yannick Jankovits, saving two match points to gain a 6-4, 6-2, 7-5 win. The 24-year-old lost his service eight times but also capitalized on eight of his own break point chances to prevail in one hour and 57 minutes.
Italian wild card Matteo Berrettini was without any chance against Laslo Djere. The world number 182 from Serbia beat the only 19-year-old local, winning 6-4, 6-3 in 69 minutes.
