The Calgary National Bank Challenger has its finalists following another round of thrilling tennis on Saturday. The ATP Challenger tournament, which offers $81,240 in total prize money, is being played on the hard courts of the OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre in Calgary.
Maxime Cressy of the United States booked his place in Sunday’s championship match with victory over seventh-seeded Liam Broady of Great Britain. It means the No. 10 seed will contest a second ATP Challenger final on Canadian soil in the space of a week after he claimed the Drummondville Challenger title just last Sunday. Cressy fired 31 aces and won 89 per cent of his first-service points to secure a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5) victory in two hours and nine minutes.

The 22-year-old US-American will now face off against a familiar foe in Arthur Rinderknech of France in the final. Coincidentally, Rinderknech was the losing finalist in Drummondville. The eighth seed ended the good run of Kacper Zuk of Poland in the day’s second singles match in Calgary. Rinderknech, who beat compatriot Geoffrey Blancaneaux in the previous round, defeated Zuk 6-3, 7-6(3) after one hour and 11 minutes.
In the remaining doubles semi-final, Canadian Filip Peliwo and partner Harry Bourchier of Australia sealed their passage through to Sunday’s title match with a 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-5 victory over Broady and Scott Clayton of Great Britain. They will now face third seeds Nathan Pasha and Max Schnur of the United States in the doubles final.
