#NextGenATP Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild completed a dream week at the Chile Dove Men+Care Open, riding his wild card to a maiden ATP Tour crown in Santiago by stunning second seed Casper Ruud 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.

The 19-year-old from Rio de Janeiro sent down 17 aces and won 71 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and 16 minutes.

Seyboth Wild, No. 182 in the ATP Rankings, is the first #NextGenATP player to earn a tour-level title this season. The teenager is also the youngest Brazilian titlist in ATP Tour history.

It’s an incredible achievement. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about,” Seyboth Wild said, quoted by the ATP Tour website. “I need to just take the best from the week and keep on going for the rest of the season.

“As the matches went by and I was feeling myself on court, I felt like I could go step by step. When I got to the final, I needed to play it just like another match, like I had been playing the whole week and take my chances.”

Seyboth Wild earned in Chile’s capital city 250 ATP Rankings points and $101,285 in prize money. Ruud picked up 150 points and $56,065.
