M25 Sunderland GBR – Jack Draper triumphs on home soil

British top talent Jack Draper captured the trophy of the GB Pro Series Sunderland, hosted at Sunderland Tennis Centre. The tournament was the last stop of a three-week ITF-indoor swing in Great Britain.

The 18-year-old from Sutton made the last step to the final by defeating French junior entrant Valentin Royer, who was ranked No. 8 in ITF Juniors Rankings last season, in straight sets.

Former World No. 52 and No. 4 seeded veteran Igor Sijsling emerged victorious from the all-Dutch semi-final clash against the tournament’s No. 8 Jesper de Jong in three sets.

No. 3 seed Draper struck eight aces in the title match to secure a 6-2, 6-0 victory in 47 minutes. The lefty, who was ranked World No. 7 as a junior, lifted his seventh career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won in a period of 18 months.

After the match, Draper commented: „I’m really pleased with my performances over this three week swing [winner, runner-up, quarter-finalist]. It’s great to have the opportunity to compete in my own country, and have won a number of my titles here [six out of seven]. I’m now hoping to push on and play some ATP Challenger events over the next few months“.

M25 Trento ITA – Favourite Ruben Bemelmans wins

The M25 Trento tournament, held at ATA Battisti Trento, concluded with the victory of top seed Ruben Bemelmans from Belgium

The former World No. 84 booked his spot in the final with a straight-set win against Francesco Forti from Italy.

Alexander Erler from Austria, who is based at the AHM Tennis Academy of Andreas Haider-Maurer in Schwaz, battled past No. 3 seed Julian Ocleppo of Italy in the stage of the last four in two sets.

In the championship match, 32-year-old Bemelmans capitalized on all of his three break-point chances and lost one service game to prevail 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in 99 minutes. The Genk-born celebrated his 14th singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in addition to his five titles on the ATP Challenger Tour.

M25 Rio Cuarto ARG – Camillo Ugo Carabelli prevails in Argentina

Camillo Ugo Carabelli won the title of the M25 Ciudad de Rio Cuarto by Sieger, hosted at Jockey Club Rio Cuarte in the south of Cordoba.

In the all-Argentinean semi-finals, the No. 8 seed rallied down SE-entry Franco Agamenone in straight sets.

Top seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry took the last step to the final by beating Facundo Diaz Acosta, who was ranked World No. 6 as a junior, in three sets.

Twenty-year-old Ugo Carabelli dropped one service game in the title match and converted three of his 11 break-point opportunities to get the final win with 7-6, 6-2 after two hours and 24 minutes. The Buenos Aires native lifted his fourth career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M25 Antalya TUR – Duje Ajdukovic surprises in Turkey

Qualifier Duje Ajdukovic is the champion of the MTA Open held at Club Megasaray in Belek.

The 19-year-old Croatian cruised past former World No. 4 in the Juniors Ranking Yshai Oliel from Israel in the stage of the final four in straight sets.

Pedro Cachin from Argentina, who clinched the trophy in Paguera last week, advanced to the final with a straight-set win versus last week’s Antalya champion Jonas Forejtek from the Czech Republic.

Zagreb resident Ajdukovic outpointed his 24-year-old rival in the championship match 106-101 to claim a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 win in two hours and 24 minutes. He celebrated his third singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on clay court.

M15 Trnava SVK – Danylo Kalenichenko seals victory

Without dropping a set the entire week, Danylo Kalenichenko took the trophy of the 1st Empire Men’s Indoor, hosted at the venue of the TC Empire Trnava.

The No. 4 seed from the Ukraine fought trough the top half of the draw, knocking off Slovakian top seed Lukas Klein in the semi-finals.

Latvian junior entrant Karlis Ozolins booked the spot in the championship match by defeating No. 7 seeded Vitaliy Sachko in straight sets. Seventeen-year-old Ozolins, who is based at the Alexander Waske Tennis-University in Offenbach, is currently ranked No. 7 in ITF Juniors.

Kiev-born Kalenichenko struck nine aces in the title match and won 91 per cent of his first-service points to prevail 6-4, 6-4 in 69 minutes. The 26-year-old lifted his fourth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Vale do Lobo POR – Ricardo Ojeda Lara wins first title of the season

The Vale do Lobo Tennis Open, held at Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy, concluded with the championship of Ricardo Ojeda Lara.

The 27-year-old Spaniard edged out Portuguese No. 6 seed Tiago Cacao in the semi-finals in two sets.

The tournament’s top favourite Riccardo Bonadio from Italy reached the final with a straight-set win against German No. 5 seed Sebsatian Fanselow, who played college tennis for Pepperdine University.

Second seed Ojeda Lara won nine points less in the championship match, but secured a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory after one hour and 51 minutes. The former World No. 171, who was born in Cadiz, celebrated his 15th singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in addition to his ATP Challenger title win in Meerbusch 2017.

M15 Heraklion GRE – Nicholas David Ionel dominates in Crete

Teenager Nicholas David Ionel captured the title of the M15 Heraklion tournament, hosted at Lyttos Beach Tennis Academy, without losing a set during the competition.

The No. 5 seed from Romania eased past US-American Vasil Kirkov in the stage of the last four in straight sets.

No. 4 seeded Brazilian Jordan Correia made the last step to the final by beating German No. 8 seed Kai Wehnelt in two sets.

Seventeen-year-old Ionel won 77 per cent of his first-service points and did not drop a service game in the title match to seal a 6-4, 6-2 win after one hour and 45 minutes. Following his four championships on the ITF World Tennis Tour last season, the Bucharest resident lifted his fifth career trophy.

M15 Monastir TUN – In-form Thomas Laurent captures back-to-back titles in Tunisia

Following his championship at the same place last week, Thomas Laurent triumphed at the Magic Tours tournament, held at Magic Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir. He didn’t drop a set the entire week.

The 22-year-old French emerged victorious from the all-French semi-final encounter versus wildcard entry Benjamin Pietri in two clear sets.

No. 7 seeded Spaniard Nicolas Alvarez Varona, who was ranked No. 7 in the ITF Juniors Ranking last season, battled through the top half of the draw by defeating Majed Kilani from Tunisia in three sets.

No. 3 seeded Laurent capitalized on six of his eight break point chances in the title match to prevail 6-2, 6-3 in 88 minutes. The Montpellier native celebrated his third title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Sharm El Sheikh EGY – Karim-Mohamed Maamoun seals another title on home soil

Karim-Mohamed Maamoun clinched the trophy of the M15 Sharm El Sheikh tournament, hosted at Soho Square.

The top seeded Egyptian, who was awarded a wild card by the organizers, rallied past Soichiro Moritani from Japan in the stage of the final four in two sets.

The No. 3 seeded Czech David Poljak advanced to the final with a straight-set win against Nam Hoang Ly from Vietnam.

Giza-born Maamoun outpointed his rival in the title match 69-58 to claim a 7-5, 6-3 victory in one hour and 22 minutes. The 28-year-old, who captured seven titles last season, lifted his 18th career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on Egyptian soil.
