The second round of the € 42,500 Andria E Castel Del Monte ATP Challenger concluded on Thursday. Jan Satral knocked out top seed Nikoloz Basilashvili, winning 7-6, 6-3. The 25-year-old Czech fired 12 aces and won broke his opponent’s service four times to prevail in one hour and 24 minutes setting a quarterfinals meeting with sixth seed Michael Berrer.
Fourth seed Dudi Sela advanced to the stage of the final eight, winning 7-6, 7-6 against Croatian qualifier Ante Pavic. The world number 107 from Israel, who still battling for a main draw spot at the Australian Open, won 71% of his first service points and capitalized on two of his four break point chances closed the encounter after one hour and 35 minutes facing Luca Vanni next. The fifth seeded Italian beat Marco Chiudinelli 7-6, 6-1, hitting 15 aces ato seal victory in one hour and 21 minutes.
Third seed Ivan Dodig remained untroubled to defeated Lorenzo Sonego. The world number 106 from Croatia didn’t face a break point, converting three of his own to set a quarterfinals clash after one hour and 13 minutes with another Italian in person of Roberto Marcora.
