The semi-finals at the € 42,500 Andria E Castel Del Monte ATP Challenger are almost set. Egor Gerasimov knocked out second seed Illya Marchenko, winning 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. The 23-year-old from Belarus hit 11 aces and broke his opponent’s serve three times to take on Ivan Dodig on Saturday. The third seed from Croatia saved all three break points he faced against Roberto Marcora and capitalized on four of his own to advance after 68 minutes. With this victory, Dodig secures his spot in the main draw at the Australian Open.

The tournament’s number six Michael Berrer defeated Jan Satral 7-5, 7-6. The German veteran won 73% of his first service points and converted three of his eight break point chances to prevail in one hour and 39 minutes. The last quarterfinals match of the day between Luca Vanni and Dudi Sela had to be postponed to Saturday due to leaky roof and indoor rain.
