HAMBURG, August 13, 2020

Good news for tennis fans in Germany! The 2020 edition of the Hamburg European Open is supposed to be held from September 19 to 27. The ATP 500 clay-court event was originally scheduled for mid-July but had to be postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“We have informed the ATP of our intent to operate the tournament in the week prior to Roland Garros, and we expect this to be confirmed as part of a wider calendar announced made by the ATP tomorrow, Friday August 14,” tournament director Sandra Reichel stated.

Following the cancellation of the Mutua Madrid Open, the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome should be moved to the week of September 14.

This year’s Hamburg European Open will be played at the modernized Rothenbaum tennis stadium with a capacity of 10,000 seats. However, due to social distancing rules in Germany, the number of spectators, who will be allowed to attend the matches, will be reduced.
