STARNBERG, September 29, 2020
The ATP Challenger Tour is set to return to Bavaria with the fourth edition of the Wolffkran Open. The event will be held indoors on carpet at the Tennis Club Ismaning, located near Munich, kicking off a three-week Challenger swing in Germany followed by the tournaments in Hamburg and Eckental.
The 2020 Wolffkran Open offers a total prize money of €44,820 and is scheduled to take place on October 17 to 25.
The entry list is led by World No. 81 Federico Delbonis. The 29-year-old Argentine will be joined by fellow Top 100 player and 2017 Ismaning winner Yannick Hanfmann, who is part of a strong German contingent, which also includes Dustin Brown and Yannick Maden.
In-form teenagers Carlos Alcaraz from Spain, who lifted his maiden trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour at the Città di Trieste in Italy last month, and Italian Lorenzo Musetti, first-time Challenger winner on home soil in Forli, have also joined the field.
Defending champion Lukas Lacko will return, too. The veteran from Slovakia defeated big-serving US-American Maxime Cressy in last year’s title match. The tournament will be held behind closed doors and in accordance with strict hygiene protocols. Christoph Poehlmann was announced as the new tournament director.
