M25 Jablonec Nad Nisou CZE – Agustin Velotti prevails in North-Bohemia
The Jablonec Open 2020, hosted at CLTK Bizuterie Jablonec Nad Nisou, concluded with the title win of Agustin Velotti.
The 28-year-old emerged victorious from the all-Argentinian semi-final encounter against No. 7 seed Sebastian Baez in two sets. Nineteen-year-old Baez was ranked World No. 1 as a junior two years ago and clinched the trophy at the Under-16-Metropolia Orange Bowl International Championships in 2015.
Former junior’s World No. 1 Gianluigi Quinzi from Italy booked his spot in the final with a straight-set win against Belarusian Uladzimir Ignatik.
Unseeded Velotti outpointed his 24-year-old opponent 58-46 in the championship match, winning 6-4, 6-2 in 88 minutes. The Larroque native, who captured the title of the Roland Garros Junior Championships in 2010, lifted his 13th trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in addition to his two title wins on the ATP Challenger Tour.
M15 Melilla ESP – Timofei Skatov earns third trophy of the season
Timofi Skatov is the champion of the Internacional Masculino Melilla Sport Capital held at the Federacion Melillense de Tenis.
The 19-year-old Kazakh, who had represented the Russian Tennis Federation for three years between 2015 and 2018, took the last step to the final with a straight-set win against Max Houkes from the Netherlands.
Danish tennis hope Holger Rune, who clinched the titles of the Roland Garros Junior Championships and the ITF Junior Masters in Chengdu in 2019, edged past Bulgarian No. 8 seed Adrian Andreev in the semi-finals in two sets. Nineteen-year-old Andreev was ranked ITF World No. 2 as a junior.
Petropavl-born Skatov converted seven of his 10 break-point opportunities in the title match to seal a 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 comeback win after two hours and 23 minutes. The former junior’s World No. 1, who entered the competition on position 2, has celebrated his third career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won in 2020.
M15 Monastir TUN – Luca Potenza celebrates his maiden title on Pro Circuit
Luca Potenza was victorious at the Magic Tours tournament, held at Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir, to lift his first trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
The Italian qualifier edged out Austrian No. 4 seed Alexander Erler, who is based at the AHM Tennis Academy of former tennis professional Andreas Haider-Maurer in Schwaz, in the semi-finals in two sets.
Last week’s Monastir champion Alexander Shevchenko, who has been coached by Austria’s Günter Bresnik for many years, defeated Stuart Parker from Great Britain in the stage of the final four in straight sets.
Twenty-year-old Potenza capitalized on four of his seven break-point chances in the championship match against his No. 8 seeded rival, to prevail 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 after two hours and four minutes.

M15 Castelo Branco POR – Lucas Catarina captures his third title of the season
Following his two title wins in Monastir earlier in the season, Lucas Catarina triumphed at the Internacionais de Tenis de Castelo Branco hosted by the Riba Clube.
The Monegasque Davis Cup-competitor battled past Spanish wild card entry Nicolas Alvarez Varona, who was ranked World No. 7 in ITF Juniors Ranking last year, in the stage of the last four in three sets.
No. 7 seed Strong Kirchheimer from the United States made the last step to the final following a straight-set win against Riccardo Balzerani from Italy.
Twenty-four-year-old Catarina made 11 points less in the title match, but secured a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 victory winning the tie-break 13-11 in the deciding set. The final lasted two hours and 37 minutes. The Monaco native, who entered the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2019 by wild card, has lifted his sixth singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour. The No. 6 seed won all of his titles on hard court.
