Qualifier Marvin Moeller continued his good run of form at the Challenger Eckental by reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP Challenger 100 event held at the House of Sports in Eckental, Germany. The 21-year-old qualifier from Germany defeated his compatriot and wild card entry Mats Rosenkranz 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
Moeller converted four of his 13 break point chances to advance in 62 minutes. Up next for the World No. 1495 from Hamburg will be either top seed Kamil Majchrzak from Poland or Russia’s Roman Safiullin.
No. 4 seed Evgeny Donskoy rallied past German teenager Max Rehberg, who earned his first match win at Challenger level in the first round against Illya Marchenko from the Ukraine, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(5). The World No. 120 from Russia sent down eight aces and won 76 per cent of his first-service points to secure victory in two hours and 17 minutes. Donskoy will next take on Ramkumar Ramanathan of India, who defeated Hiroki Moriya of Japan 7-6(1), 6-4 in one and a half hours of play.
In other action, Sebastian Korda battled past German qualifier Johannes Haerteis 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. The No. 7 seed from the United States outpointed his opponent 79-67 after one hour and 24 minutes. Korda will face in the stage of the final eight the winner of the encounter between Zdenek Kolar from the Czech Republic or No. 2 seeded Australian Alexei Popyrin.
