STARNBERG, November 6, 2020

German qualifier Marvin Moeller continues his good run of form at this week’s Challenger Eckental held on carpet at the House of Sports. The World No. 1495 advanced to his first semi-final on the ATP Challenger Tour by knocking out top seed Kamil Majchrzak from Poland 6-4, 6-2 on Friday afternoon.

Moeller capitalized on four of his 10 break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and nine minutes. The 21-year-old Hamburg native had to skip the second half of the 2018 season as well as the entire following year due to a wrist injury and is now trying to climb up the rankings again. Moeller reached a career high of World No. 504 in July 2018. In Eckental, he will next challenge Ramkumar Ramanathan of India, who upset No. 4 seed Evgeny Donskoy of Russia 6-2, 6-1 in just under one hour of play.

US-American young gun Sebastian Korda stunned No. 2 seed Alexei Popyrin from Australia 6-4, 6-4. The 20-year-old converted all of his three break points to prevail after one hour and seven minutes. No. 7 seed Korda will next take on No. 3 seed Ilya Ivashka from Belarus. The 26-year-old from Minsk beat this year’s Ismaning champion Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland 6-4, 6-4 in 61 minutes.
