Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and Liam Broady will play Sunday’s singles final of the inaugural €44,820 Internazionali Di Tennis Citta di Parma. The No. 7 seed from Germany rallied from a set down to overcome Frenchman Quentin Halys 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the stage of the final four.
Stebe withstood 15 aces from his opponent and broke Halys’ serve three times to prevail after one hour and 52 minutes. “It was a very good match,” Stebe told Italian journalist Matteo Mosciatti and was pleased with his performance. “He started off very well and I didn’t use my first two break-point chances, but he served very well and also played well from the baseline. He is a very good player. I am just happy to be through.
“This will be my last tournament of the season. I was scheduled to play the qualifying at the Sofia Open but I will be happy to close the season with a win. I could move closer to the Top 100 again. I just try to focus on the match tomorrow and then we will see.”
