Trophies Sofia Open

STARNBERG, November 8, 2020

Denis Shapovalov leads the way at the Sofia Open, the final ATP 250 of the season, which begins on Sunday. Three Top 25 players in the FedEx ATP Rankings headline the singles draw. In doubles, the final spot in the Nitto ATP Finals field is still up for grabs.

Top-seeded Shapovalov is pursuing his first trophy of the season. Fellow Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime, the second seed, is trying to earn his maiden ATP Tour title. Australian Alex de Minaur is the third seed.

The top two seeds in the doubles draw — Jürgen Melzer and Edouard Roger-Vasselin as well as Jamie Murray and Neal Skupskiare battling for the final London berth. If Melzer and Roger-Vasselin reach the Sofia final, they will guarantee their qualification for the season finale. Murray and Skupski must reach the championship match in order to have a chance.

Bulgaria has made its mark on the ATP Tour through Grigor Dimitrov, and the country hosted its first ATP Tour event in its capital city of Sofia in 2016. Fittingly, Dimitrov won the tournament in 2017 during his Sofia debut. The Sofia Open is staged at the 12,000-seater Arena Armeec Sofia, Bulgaria’s leading sports and entertainment venue.
