M15 Quinta do Lago POR – Nuno Borges wins third title of the season
Nuno Borges lifted his third singles trophy in 2020, winning The Campus M15 Quinta do Lago tournament in Portugal.
The 23-year-old Portuguese edged out French No. 5 seed Antoine Escoffier in the semi-finals in three sets.
No. 6 seed Michael Geerts from Belgium advanced to the final with a straight-set win against the No. 8 seeded German Sebastian Fanselow.
In the championship match, Maia-born Borges converted five of his six break-point chances secured a 6-0, 6-1 win in 52 minutes. The former college player for Mississippi State University has celebrated his seventh title on home soil, his ninth overall on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
„It has been a nice week here. I enjoyed the courts here although the weather was not great. I played very well to win the tournament, so I couldn’t be happier, Borges said after the match.
The tournament in Quinta do Lago was the conclusion to a Portuguese swing on the ITF World Tennis Tour, consisting of seven tournaments at different places since September, with two titles and three final appearances for Borges.
M15 Parnu EST – Otto Virtanen clinches his maiden trophy
Otto Virtanen took the title of the PAF Open 2020 held at the venue of Pärnu Tennisekeskus.
The 19-year-old Finn knocked off his top seeded compatriot Patrik Niklas-Salminen in the stage of the last four in straight sets.
Yan Sabanin from Russia benefited from the retirement of Estonian wild card entry Mattias Siimar in the semi-finals at the score of 5-0.
Hyvinkää-born Virtanen dominated the title match against his 30-year-old rival to gain a 6-3, 6-0 win. The former junior’s World No. 6, who captured the trophy at the Under-18-Metropolia Orange Bowl International Championships in 2018, celebrated his maiden title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
M15 Fayetteville USA – Alexis Galarneau earns his maiden title on the Pro Circuit
The Legacy Bank NWA Tennis Series, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, concluded with the title win of Alexis Galarneau.
The Canadian No. 7 seed battled past No. 8 seeded Brandon Holt from the United States in the semi-finals in straight sets.
No. 2 seed Roberto Quiroz from Ecuador, who was ranked ITF No. 7 as a junior, took the last step to the final by beating Canadian junior entry Liam Draxl in three sets. Eighteen-year-old Draxl was ranked World No. 9 in ITF Junior’s Ranking last year.
Twenty-one-year-old Galarneau won 80 per cent of his first-service points in the championship match to claim a 6-2, 6-1 victory in 74 minutes. The Laval resident, who played his first tournament on the Pro Circuit since February, has lifted his first singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Heraklion GRE – Evan Furness captures back-to-back titles in Crete
Following his triumph at the same place last week, coming out of the qualifying, Evan Furness clinched another trophy of the 17th Lyttos Beach ITF World Tour, held at the Lyttos Beach Tennis Academy.
The 22-year-old French, who entered the tournament by special exempt, eased past Francesco Forti from Italy in the stage of the final four in three sets.
Monegasque Lucas Catarina, who entered the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters by wild card in 2018 and 2019, emerged victorious from the semi-final encounter against left-handed Ryan Peniston from Great Britain in three sets.
Unseeded Furness outpointed his 24-year-old rival in the title match 93-79 to prevail 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 after two hours and 24 minutes. The Pontivy-born has celebrated his fifth title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
M15 Sharm El Sheikh EGY – Alessandro Bega claims his fourth title in 2020
Alessandro Bega was crowned champion of the M15 Sharm El Sheikh tournament hosted by at Soho Square.
The 29-year-old Italian made the last step to the final thanks to a straight-set win against the No. 3 seeded Ukrainian Vladyslav Orlov.
No. 4 seed Petros Chrysochos from Cyprus rallied past Czech No. 7 seed Marek Gengel in the semi-finals in three sets.
Top seeded Bega capitalized on four of his seven break-point opportunities in the championship match to seal a 6-4, 6-2 victory in 96 minutes. The Cernusco sul Naviglio native has lifted his 17th career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, his fourth in 2020.
