The Orlando Open Presented by Nemours, an ATP Challenger Tour hard-court event with a total prize money of $52,080, began main draw action Monday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. It is the final tournament of the USTA Pro Circuit’s abbreviated fall swing.
Four US-Americans, including wild card-recipient Patrick Kypson and qualifier Zachary Svajda, won their matches on the opening day. Kypson beat compatriot Christian Harrison 6-3, 7-6(8) in one hour and 36 minutes. Seventeen-year-old Svajda edged past Brandon Holt from the United States 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 45 minutes. The pair will be joined by Mitchell Krueger and Christopher Eubanks in the second round.

There were only two seeds involved in the first day of play, with the tournament’s No. 6 Dmitry Popko of Kazakhstan dismissing Noah Rubin from the United States 6-1, 6-2 and fifth-seeded Mohamed Safwat of Egypt coming up on the wrong end of a 6-1, 6-1 score line against Japanese Hiroki Moriya.
Play continues Tuesday with the conclusion of the singles first round and the start of the doubles main draw.
