Break Point: A Davis Cup Story

ITF Press Release, November 27, 2020

Rakuten TV presents Break Point: A Davis Cup Story, a Kosmos Studios Production about the biggest international team competition in tennis. The documentary features some of the world’s top players including Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista Agut, Andrey Rublev, Jamie Murray and Feliciano López, among others.

The documentary covers the final phase of last year’s tournament in Madrid in 2019, which presented a completely remodelled format bringing together 18 teams over just one week, with Spain crowned champions for the sixth time.

Break Point: A Davis Cup Story focuses on the competition’s two finalists: Spain and Canada. Spain’s experience, with Rafael Nadal as their No.1 and five Davis Cup titles to their name, versus the youth of the Canadian team, led by the 20-year-old Denis Shapovalov, who had the opportunity to win a first Davis Cup for his country.

For both teams, the 2019 Davis Cup was full of emotion, with the loss of some of their main players due to injury or even withdrawal during the competition. The documentary also tells the emotional personal story of Roberto Bautista Agut, who had to leave the competition due to the death of his father, and then returned to support his team, played in the final and won the title for Spain.

Rakuten TV will exclusively offer Break Point: A Davis Cup Story free in 43 European countries, starting 26th November. In Spain, the documentary will also be broadcast on Movistar TV from 26 November.
