M15 Bratislava SVK – Zizou Bergs dominates in Slovakia
Zizou Bergs captured the trophy of the ITF WTT M15 Bratislava Mens Cup 2020, held at the National Tennis Centre, without losing a set the entire week.
The 21-year-old Belgian made the last step to the final by defeating Danylo Kalenichenko from the Ukraine.
Russian No. 5 seed Bogdan Bobrov rallied past teenager Peter Fajta from Hungary, who entered the tournament by his current junior ranking, in the stage of the final four in three sets.
Lommel-born Bergs fired nine aces in the title match and won 85 per cent of his first-service points to claim a 6-4, 6-2 victory in 76 minutes. The No. 6 seed, who earned his first ATP Tour-level main draw match win on home soil at the European Open in Antwerp in October, celebrated his fourth career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
During the trophy-ceremony, Bergs said: “I think it was a very strong tournament for me, I was competing on a very high level. It has been a tough year for everyone with the Covid situation, not many matches were played. To win a tournament this year feels very good, especially with the level I showed. I didn’t just win the tournament, I also really improved myself as a player and I think this counts also. With all of that I am very happy.”

M15 Benicarlo ESP – Nicolas Alvarez Varona captures maiden title
The ITF $15.000 Benicarlo Castellon Spain tournament hosted by the Club de Tenis Benicarlo concluded with the win of home favourite Nicolas Alvarez Varona.
The former No. 7 in ITF Juniors ranking advanced to the final with a three-set win against Marco Bortolotti from Italy.
Russian Ivan Gakhov battled past No. 6 seeded Frenchman Antoine Cornut Chauvinc in the semi-finals in three sets.
After winning the first set in the tie-break by the score of 15-13, 19-year-old Alvarez Varona made one point more in the championship match, to prevail 7-6, 6-4 after two hours and 26 minutes. The Burgos native lifted his first trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Heraklion GRE – Adrian Andreev earns debut title on the Pro Circuit
Adrian Andreev from Sofia triumphed at the 17th Lyttos Beach ITF World Tour, held at Lyttos Beach Tennis Academy, celebrating his maiden title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
The 19-year-old Bulgarian, who entered the tournament by special exempt, eased past British No. 5 seed Ryan Peniston in the stage of the last four in straight sets.
Czech No. 4 seed Jiri Lehecka battled through the top half of the draw, beating last week’s Heraklion champion Mateus Alves in the semi-finals in two sets.
Unseeded Andreev, who was ranked World No. 2 as a junior at the end of the year in 2018, outpointed his rival of the same age in the title match 64-53 to seal a 6-3, 6-4 victory after one hour and 36 minutes.
The doubles trophies went to Germany. Former college player Timo Stodder and Robert Strombachs defeated the top seeded Austrian duo of Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
M15 Monastir TUN – Ergi Kirkin wins on hard court in Tunisia
Following his two clay-court titles in Antalya last season, Ergi Kirkin clinched the trophy of the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, hosted by the Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir, to celebrate his third career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
The 21-year-old wild card entry from Turkey advanced to the final following a straight-set victory against Luca Giacomini from Italy.
Qualifier Kenneth Raisma from Estonia continued his great run by beating Slovenia’s No. 8 seed Tomas Lipovsek Puches in the semi-finals in two sets.
No. 2 seeded Kirkin converted five of his eight break-point chances in the championship match to succeed 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 after one hour and 29 minutes.

M15 Cairo EGY – Clay-court specialist Milan Zekic continues his great series
Milan Zekic clinched the title of the Egypt Men’s Future held at the Al-Solaimaneyah Center in Cairo.
The Serbian veteran edged out the tournament’s second favourite Daniel Michalski from Poland in the stage of the final four in two sets.
Dutch qualifier Niels Visker took the last step to the final by defeating Emiliano Maggioli from Italy in three sets.
Thirty-two-year-old Zekic won 21 points more in the title match than his rival to secure a 6-1, 7-6 win after one hour and 43 minutes. The No. 5 seed lifted his 22nd singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in addition to his ATP Challenger title in Todi, Italy four years ago. Belgrad-born Zekic, who has clinched all of his titles on clay, has won at least one title per season on the Pro Circuit since 2010.
