Taylor Fritz claimed the title of the $75,000 City of Onkaparinga ATP Challenger in Happy Valley. The tournament’s eighth seed upset top-ranked Dudi Sela in Sunday’s final 7-6, 6-2.
Fritz fired 10 aces and capitalized on three of his six break point opportunities to finish the match after one hour and 18 minutes.
The only 18-year-old US-American celebrates his third Challenger career title, after lifting the trophies in Sacramento and Fairfield in 2015. His title marks the 14th time a teenager has won a Challenger title in the last year.
The world number 174, who is currently ranked on a career high, takes away $10,800 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.
In the doubles final, Matteo Donati and Andrey Golubev defeated second seeded team of Denys Molchanov and Aleksandr Nedovyesov, winning 3-6, 7-6, 10-1 in one hour and 18 minutes.
