No. 2 seed Sebastian Korda opened his title bid on Tuesday at the €88,250 Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale with a hard-fought first-round win over French qualifier Tristan Lamasine. The 20-year-old US-American saved one match point and outpointed his opponent 115-114 to secure a 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-6(7) victory in two hours and 32 minutes.
Korda, who clinched his maiden Challenger title at Eckental, Germany last year and reached his first ATP Tour final at the Delray Beach Open by VITACOST.com earlier this month, will next take on Mathias Bourgue of France, who defeated Czech veteran Lukas Rosol 7-6(5), 6-4 in one hour and 37 minutes.

In other action, French wild card entry Constant Lestienne knocked out No. 4 seed Denis Kudla from the United States 6-2, 7-6(6). The World No. 227 fired 11 aces and won 78 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 33 minutes. Up next for Lestienne will be Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan, who edged out Lukas Lacko from Slovakia 6-3, 6-7(2), 7-6(4) in two hours and 12 minutes.
With Enzo Couacaud another local player booked his place in the second round. The 25-year-old Paris resident knocked off No. 6 seed Jurij Rodionov of Austria 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 in one hour and 39 minutes. Couacaud will next play compatriot and wild card entry Evan Furness.
