US-American #NextGenATP star Sebastian Korda is the champion of the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale held at the at the Parc des Expositions de Quimper, France. The No. 2 seed of the €88,520 ATP Challenger Tour tournament cruised past Filip Horansky of Slovakia 6-1, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.
Korda, who dropped two sets en route to the title match, sent down nine aces and won 89 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after only 49 minutes.
Sebastian Korda eases past Filip Horansky 6-1, 6-1 (!) in just 51 minutes to claim the title in Quimper and reach a new career-high ranking of #87 (top 100 debut).

“I always knew I had the game to do this,” said Korda, quoted by the ATP Challenger website. “It’s just been about getting my body right and really having some good people around me that push me every single day. It’s a lot of little things but they are so important to get to where I want to be. It took some pressure off my shoulders when I heard I cracked the Top 100 for sure, but it’s been a good week in Quimper and I’m happy to get my second Challenger title.”
Following his maiden triumph at the Challenger Eckental in Germany in November last year, the 20-year-old Florida native pocketed in Brittany €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points. Korda will crack the Top 100 for the first time, reaching a new career-high ranking of World No. 88 on Monday.
Horansky, who also seeking his second Challenger triumph, earned €7,200 in prize money as well as 60 ATP Ranking points. The ATP Challenger Tour will stay in Quimper for the €44,820 Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale 2, kicking off on Monday. This week’s champion Korda has withdrawn from the event due to left adductor injury and will be replaced by either a qualifier or a lucky loser.
