Mikhail Youzhny will headline the qualifying of the inaugural Garanti Koza Sofia Open, the first ATP 250 tournament held in Bulgaria from 30 January to 7 February. The former world number 8 from Russia is still on his comeback trail, playing ATP Challenger events in order to climb up the rankings again. Youzhny, currently ranked on 106th position, captured the title in Eckental last November and also lifted another Challenger trophy in Bangkok last week.
Youzhny will be joined by world number 101 Filip Krajinovic, best ranked player who entered the qualfication list in Sofia, as well as Ruben Bemelmans and Lukas Lacko. 16 players will try to qualfiy for the main draw, which is led by Viktor Troicki.
Janko Tipsarevic withdrew from the event due to injury. He will be replaced by the entry list’s first alternate Thiemo de Bakker from the Netherlands.
