M15 Cairo EGY – Gonzalo Lama ends title drought

Clay-court specialist Gonzalo Lama triumphed at the Egypt Men’s Future, which was held at Al-Solaimaneyah Center in Cairo.

The Chilean qualifier made the last step to the final by defeating Lenny Hampel from Austria in straight sets.

Nicolas Moreno de Alboran from the United States battled past Argentinian junior entry Roman Andres Burruchaga in the second semi-final in two sets.

Twenty-seven-year-old Lama converted six of his 11 break-point chances in the title match without losing a service game to secure a 6-0, 6-0 victory in 66 minutes. The former World No. 160 lifted his ninth singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour in addition to his two title wins on the ATP Challenger Tour. The Santiago de Chile native, who won all his titles on clay, has celebrated his first title win since 2016.

Last week’s Cairo champion Franco Agamenone from Italy clinched the doubles trophy alongside his Argentinian partner Hernan Casanova. The top seeded duo eased past the Japanese tandem Ken Onishi and Jumpei Yamasaki in the championship match 6-1, 6-4.

M15 Antalya TUR – No champion crowned in Turkey

The Artengo Open Series 3, hosted by the Club Megasaray in Belek, was cancelled after the stage of the final eight due to bad weather. Heavy rain and stormy weather suspended play for several days.
