Dimitar Kuzmanov and Marsel Ilhan are the first two players who received a main draw wild card into the inaugural Garanti Koza Sofia Open starting 1 February in the Arena Armeec.
Dimitar Kuzmanov is currently ranked at number 290 in the world. The 22-year-old won 5 single ITF Future titles last year and also played the qualification of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open but lost in the opening round to Michael Venus.
“I am really grateful. I am very happy that the hosts of Garanti Koza Sofia Open give me the chance to play in the main draw of this АТР World Tour event. I think I deserve this wildcard with the good season I had last year. I am proud that I’ve been cosidered”, said Kuzmanov.
Marsel Ilhan is 28-years-old. He is Turkey’s top-ranked player. He reached a career high world number 77 in March last year. He is currently ranked at 114th position. Last year, Ilhan lost in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships to Novak Djokovic. The last wild card for the Garanti Koza Sofia Open will be announced later this month.
