Several young South African players have been given wildcard entries into the second week of the Potch Open and Ilana Kloss International, beginning Monday 15 February at the North-West University in Potchefstroom.

South African teen sensation Kholo Montsi, Vaughn Hunter, Alec Beckley and Jamie Davis will all play the ATP Challenger 80 event main draw. Montsi, Hunter and Davis were knocked out in the opening round of the first tournament earlier this week and will be hoping to go a step further in the second week of the series.

In addition to the three main draw wild cards, two promising young South African players – Dylan Salton and Carl Roothman – have been given wild card entries into the qualifying draw.

In the Ilana Kloss International, South African top women’s player Chanel Simmonds will lead the country’s charge in the main draw at the Women’s ITF World Tennis Tour W25 event.

Simmonds is joined by fellow South Africans – Zoe Kruger, Isabella Kruger and Suzanie Pretorius, who were awarded main draw wild cards into the event.

The Kruger sisters impressed this week, with Zoe reaching the quarterfinal round after losing to unseeded Anna Bondar of Hungary on Friday.

Isabella was a breakout star this week, qualifying for the main draw and reaching the second round before falling to fourth seed Reka-Luca Jani of Hungary.

Tennis South Africa also announced the five women who have been awarded wildcard entries into the qualifying tournament.

Players receiving qualifying wild cards for the second week of the Ilana Kloss International includes, Katie Poluta, Ntokozo Zungu, Delien Kleinhans, Leigh van Zyl and Mari-Louise van Zyl.

The second week of the Potch Open and Ilana Kloss International runs from Monday, February 15 to Sunday, February 21 at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus.
