After Thursday’s second round matches only one seeded player is left in the draw at the Kirschbaum International $10,000 ITF Future event in Kaarst.

Fourth favourite Andreas Beck cruised past Christopher Heyman in the evening match, winning 6-3, 6-4. The former world number 33 won 78% of his first service points and capitalized on both of his two break points chances to prevail in 67 minutes. Beck will face German qualifier Vincent Jaensch-Müller next, who beat Yannick Maden 6-1, 6-3 in one hour and 30 minutes.

Top seed and last year’s runner-up Marek Michalicka was knocked out by Robin Kern. The 22-year-old German didn’t face a break point, hitting five aces to seal victory in only 51 minutes.

Next opponent will be Mats Moraing, who benefited from the retirement of Daniel Masur due to injury in his opening match, and received a walkover into the quarterfinals. His second round opponent and German Champion Oscar Otte withdrew from the match due to illness.

In the remaining quarterfinals Zdenek Kolar from the Czech Republic will take on only 17-year-old German qualifier Daniel Altmaier, and Croat Filip Veger will meet Johannes Haerteis, who had also come through the qualifying.
