Seppi Secures 10th Challenger Title, Winning In Biella

BIELLA, March 14, 2021

Andreas Seppi of Italy has returned to the winners’ circle by lifting the trophy of the Biella Challenger Indoor 3 hosted by the Palasport Biella. The No. 2 seed of the €44,820 ATP Challenger tournament beat Liam Broady from Great Britain 6-2, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.

Seppi advanced to the title match with wins over Sergiy Stakhovsky from the Ukraine, Frenchman Tristan Lamasine, No. 5 seed Peter Gojowczyk of Germany and Robin Haase from the Netherlands. The 37-year-old from South Tyrol saved the only break point he faced in the final and capitalized on five of his own 15 break-point chances to seal victory in one hour and 11 minutes.

By winning his 10th ATP Challenger crown, his first since September 2019 in Cary in the United States, Seppi earned in Biella €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.

Frenchmen take doubles title

On Saturday, Quentin Halys and Tristan Lamasine took the doubles title. The French duo benefited from the retirement of top seeds Denys Molchanov and Sergiy Stakhovsky of the Ukraine, leading 6-1, 2-0 in the final. Halys and Lamasine split €2,670 in prize money and earned 80 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
