World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, defending champion Roger Federer, World No. 22 Karen Khachanov and World No. 39 Kei Nishikori are the first four players confirmed for the 28th NOVENTI OPEN to be held at the OWL Arena from 12 to 20 June 2021 in Halle, Germany. This was announced by the organizers of the ATP 500 grass-court event on Thursday.

“I have already heard many great things about the tournament. Of course, my goal is to win the title but the competition will be very strong,” said Medvedev. The 25-year-old from Russia will make his first appearance in Westphalia.

Last year’s edition of the tournament was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The NOVENTI OPEN is one of eight grass-court events on the calendar and was re-categorised as an ATP 500 tournament in 2015. The tournament has crowned six German winners since its inaugural edition in 1993: Michael Stich (1994), Nicolas Kiefer (1999), David Prinosil (2000), Tommy Haas (2009 & 2012), Philipp Kohlschreiber (2011) and Florian Mayer (2016). Roger Federer won his 10th title in 2019.
