MEERBUSCH, March 27, 2021

World No. 229 Rudolf Molleker of Germany leads the entry list of the Just Pools Kirschbaum International. This was announced by the organizers of the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event on Friday. The 16th edition of the indoor hard-court tournament has been relocated from Kaarst to Meerbusch and will be held from April 11 to 18, 2021 at the Teremeer Sports and Tennis Resort in Meerbusch, situated in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Twenty-year-old Molleker, champion of the 2018 Neckarcup in Heilbronn, will be joined by Evgeny Karlovskiy of Russia, Austria’s Lucas Miedler and Briton Jan Choinski, who finished runner-up to Filip Horansky at the Tennis Open Stadtwerke Meerbusch ATP Challenger event three years ago.

Czech teenager Jiri Lehecka and his 20-year-old compatriot Jonas Forejtek, winner of the 2019 US Open boys’ singles title, are part of a strong #NextGen contingent. Danish young gun Holger Rune, Belgian tennis hope Zizou Bergs and 21-year-old Frenchman Evan Furness, who has already lifted two trophies on the ITF World Tennis Tour this season in Manacor, Spain and Vale do Lobo, Portugal, will also compete in the tournament.

“This is just a fantastic line-up,” said tournament director Marc Raffel.

The German Tennis Federation (DTB) has awarded main draw wild cards for local favourites Marvin Möller from Hamburg, Markus Wiskandt of Mönchengladbach and Milan Welte from Saarbrücken.

Increase in prize money

The tournament will be part of the DTB Internationals powered by Wilson and will feature a 32-man singles draw as well as a 16-team doubles draw. For the first time in the history of the event a total prize money of $25,000 will be offered. In addition to his prize money cheque, the champion will earn 20 ATP Ranking points.

“I would like to thank the German Tennis Federation and the ITF that we were able to significantly upgrade the event,” said Marc Raffel. “The same applies to the loyal sponsors who make this event possible.”
