Petzschner And Peya Will Lead The Doubles Draw At Sofia Open

SOFIA, January 27, 2016

The first 10 pairs were announced for the Garanti Koza Sofia Open doubles draw, taking place from 30 January to 7 February at the Arena Armeec.

Philipp Petzschner from Germany and Alexander Peya from Austria are currently the highest ranked team. The Austrian is at number 24 in the ATP Ranking list after winning 14 titles in his career. Petzschner is currently at number 47 in ATP Doubles. With Jurgen Melzer he won US Open title in 2011 and has 6 doubles tournament titles in his career. Petzschner and Peya will play their third event of the season, after reaching the final in Doha as well as the quarterfinals in Auckland.

There will be one more doubles US Open champion in Sofia, as Austrian Julian Knowle captured the trophy in 2007. He has won 18 ATP tournaments. For the Garanti Koza Sofia Open he is going to team up with Croatian Marin Draganja.

Probabyl second seed will be the pair of Mairusz Fyrstenberg and Lukas Rosol. The Polish currently sits at number 54 and has won 17 trophies in his career. 16 pairs will participate in the main draw, two teams will receive a wild card. The draw will be announced on 30 January. The final will be held on 7 February.
