ORLANDO, April 17, 2021
Three US-Americans have reached the stage of the final four at the Orlando Open presented by Nemours. The $52,080 ATP Challenger Tour tournament is being held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The semi-finals line-up is led by No. 5 seed Denis Kudla. The World No. 124 from the United States defeated compatriot Michael Mmoh 7-5, 6-3 on Friday afternoon. Kudla capitalized on all of his three break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and 41 minutes.
Up next for Kudla will be Roberto Cid Subervi from the Dominican Republic, who benefited from the retirement of Canadian Brayden Schnur leading 3-6, 6-2, 4-0. Schnur was forced to stop playing due to fatigue.
In other action, US-American young gun Jenson Brooksby, who lifted his maiden Challenger trophy in Potchefstroom, South Africa two months ago, defeated 19-year-old local wild card entry Zane Khan 6-4, 6-3. Brooksby converted five break-point opportunities and won 55 per cent of the total points played to advance after one hour and 24 minutes.
The 20-year-old California native will next take on Christian Harrison, who emerged victorious from the all-US-American affair with Jack Sock, 7-6(3), 6-3. The 26-year-old wild card entry from Bradenton, Florida, prevailed after one hour and 53 minutes.
