PORTO, April 20, 2021
Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city and one of the Iberian Peninsula’s major urban areas, will host an ATP Challenger Tour event this year. The inaugural Porto Open will be held on the hard courts of the Complexo Desportivo do Monte Aventino from June 27 to July 4. This was announced by the Portuguese Tennis Federation (FPT) on Tuesday.
The Porto Open ATP Challenger 50 tournament will be the fifth event on this circuit to take place in Portugal in 2021: between March 28 and April 11, the FPT organized two ATP Challenger 50 events at the Jamor Tennis Complex in Oeiras, the same venue where an ATP Challenger 125 tournament will be organized between 16 and 23 May.
The Porto Open was part of the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2019. In the previous week of this year’s men’s event, an ITF World Tennis Tour W25 tournament will be held.
