STARNBERG, May 9, 2021
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal headline the field at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, where they have combined to win 14 of the past 16 editions of the tournament. World No. 1 Djokovic is making his first appearance since his run to the Serbia Open semi-finals, while Nadal will look to bounce back from his quarterfinal loss at the Mutua Madrid Open.
The pair is joined in the Italian capital by a stellar field, which includes third seed Daniil Medvedev, Madrid semi-finalist Dominic Thiem and Monte-Carlo champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Former champion Alexander Zverev, Monte-Carlo runner-up Andrey Rublev, and last year’s finalist Diego Schwartzman round out the top eight seeds. Home favourites Matteo Berrettini, Fabio Fognini and #NextGenATP stars Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti will lead a strong group of Italian hopefuls.
In the doubles draw, Madrid finalists Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic will try to continue their impressive run of form. Top seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah will aim to lift their third title in Rome.
