Serena and Venus Williams have both been awarded a wild card into the main draw of the Emilia-Romagna Open, a new WTA 250 tournament taking place from May 15 to 22 on red clay at the Tennis Club President di Montechiarugolo in Parma, Italy. The event will feature a 32-player singles main draw and a 16-team doubles draw, while an additional six players will be able to enter the singles main draw via a 24-player qualifying draw.
The two US-Americans will be joined by 2017 US Open runner-up Madison Keys from the United States and Petra Martic of Croatia, who reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 French Open at Roland Garros. Ten players of the updated entry list are ranked inside the Top 50.
